Entering Items for Raffle Tickets
For promoting and selling "tickets" for any game of chance. Items are created in order to record the sales, collect payments and report the revenue for raffle tickets, but the software does not conduct the "drawing" or designate the winner(s). You'll need to create an item for each raffle prize, as well.

To enter an item to sell individual raffle tickets:
Go to Catalog > Add an item:
1. If the raffle prize was donated, select the donor from the dropdown menu. If not, create and use a Friends of. . . . donor record.
2. Include Tickets in the Item Name to reduce confusion between Prize(s) and Tickets
3. Edit quantity to reflect any limit on the number of tickets (chances) being sold, or a sufficiently large number if sales will not be limited.
4. Type = Raffle. Note that Raffle type is limited to sale at Gala auction. Most states regulate online "gambling" and many prohibit selling raffle tickets online. If your state allows (or allows with a permit) online raffles, you may use type = Sellable (with FMV = Price) to sell raffle tickets online.
5. Enter the price of the ticket. Note that type = Raffle does not generate a FMV field because games of chance are never tax deductible, so raffle items will automatically reflect FMV = Price.
6. This item will be used to promote the raffle in your web catalog, so be sure to include details such as FMV, number of tickets available and details of the drawing in the description.

7. Check to display option to buy raffle tickets on check-in screen.
8. Check to display option to purchase raffle tickets (singly or in quantity) during online ticket purchase (with or without also purchasing tickets)
9. Check to display option to purchase raffle tickets on online (cash) donations page (singly or in quantity).
10. Save your work.
