How to Sell "Sponsor a Teacher" tickets
Many schools offer their teachers and staff complimentary tickets to their events and offset the cost by inviting their guests to sponsor a teacher's ticket.
Rather than creating a ticket type, we recommend setting up these sponsorships as items that can be purchased during the ticket purchase because:
- Avoids the expectation that someone is sponsoring a particular teacher.
- Allows you to create and assign the number and type of tickets you need for attending teachers (and their guests) rather than searching for sponsor tickets that must be edited to assign.
- Ticket orders (and thus tickets) have buyer information embedded in the record. Since your goal is to offset the cost of teacher tickets, selling as items allows you to collect the revenue in an anonymous (to the teacher) manner.
- You have the ability to specify suggested donation amounts equal to ticket price and/or allow buyers to specify their own amount - which may increase the funds raised from people that couldn't cover the cost of a ticket but would still like to contribute to the cause.
To set up the Sponsor Teacher item:
1. Quantity = number of teachers (or more).
2. Sellable Item (can also be sold at Online Auction and/or at POS if desired).
3. FMV = $0 (providing buyer with full deductibility, since they receive no consideration for their donation)
4. Under Option tab:
5. Uncheck this box if you don't want it displayed in online catalog.
6. Check box to sell during ticket sales. Choose Highlight on Ticket page to display just below your event tickets. This will also allow people who are not buying tickets themselves to buy the teacher ticket item and/or make a donation.
7. Check box to sell on Donate Now page (another great way for people who can't attend the event to support it)
8. Check these boxes to allow buyers to sponsor more than one teacher.
