Adding a New Donor
Each item must have a donor, so a donor record must be created before entering an item. You can also select donors (usually sponsors) to appear on the sales receipt.
To add donors from the donor page:
Go to Donors > Add A Donor
To enter donor data:
Go to Donors > Add a Donor
1. Unchecking Is business box will generate first and last name fields for non-business donors.
2. Name is the only required field (First name for individuals, business name for organizations).
3. Tracking ID maintains data integrity if you are importing and exporting a data set to/from another database. Each ID must be unique.
4. The donor may have a relationship to the organization that you want to track (previous donor, volunteer, board member etc.).
5. Record the person that solicited the donor for a contribution, if desired. If the solicitor is entered here, any item added from this donor will display the solicitor listed here by default when an item is created (saved). Solicitors can be edited (added or default overridden) from the Catalog - by either individual or bulk edits.
6. Clicking on Appear on all Receipts as Sponsor ? box will place Donors name on bottom of each receipt.
7. Flag donor as anonymous to the public, as needed.
8. Include a complete mailing address if you intend to use the built-in mail merge feature to mail thank you letters (or receipts).
9. Providing a website URL creates a hyperlink on the donor's name within the catalog (unless donor is flagged as anonymous).
10. An email address allows you to email the donor a receipt.
11. Add notes that are important for your team but will not be visible to the general public.
12. Be sure to save your work.
