Setting up MagTek Card Readers

Swipers Rented or Purchased from tofinoauctions.com or schoolauction.net are already programmed and are ready to plug into any USB port and used right away.

Before purchasing any swipers make certain that they are programmable. The base part numbers may match, the appearance is the same, and the price is similar BUT the swipers are preconfigured for a specific gateway and can not be used.

1) Download and install the application from Magtek. to your computer in a know place.

2) Download the Magtek Tofino configuration file.
Option 1
Manufacturer Part #21040145

Option 2
Manufacturer Part #21073062 (Centurion, Confirmed)

Save Option 1 or 2 Downloads as a .txt file in a place you can access for 6) below. if your browser opens it as a web page, copy the entire pages contents and paste in into a .txt file in the most basic word processing software on your desktop.

3) Plug the card reader into your computer.

4) Launch the configuration application from Magtek
5) Verify it found the swiper.
6) Load the Tofino configuration program . (Option 1 or 2)
7) Download the configuration program to the reader.
8) Test the card reader.

Note: The setup program from Magtek requires the Windows Operating System.

5) Verify it found the Swiper

6) & 7) Load & download the configuration file (Option 1 or 2) from 2nd Step above

8) Test the card reader but make sure you unplug from the machine you just programmed it with

While logged in Auction > Checkin > Sell a Ticket - Swipe card while card reader plugged in

While your cursor is in Notepad or a simple text software and the swiper is plugged in, swipe a card.

Tilde - " ~ " should be first character
